Recently, I have decided to revive the Das Ubel forums and upgraded old ones we used some years ago to the newest platform and look. I am contemplating whether a full-blown Joomla site platform is to be regenerated and not just forums one ... currently integration between latest Joomla (website platform) and phpBB 3.1 (forums engine) is not 100% viable as phpbb 3.1 is brand new release and the plugin that was used to integrate the two bad boys before doesn't completely work unless forums are to be just a separate frame inside the site and not integrated into it.
New forum platform allows for more integration which may not be as robust as website systems like Joomla, but I will be able to setup forums to be a bit more than just discussions gala. For now at least, just forums should be good enough.
